Backend Software Engineer at Alchemy Inc.

<p style="min-height:1.5em">As an engineer focused on backend systems at Alchemy, you'll be working with one of the most sophisticated and high-throughput distributed systems in the blockchain world. You'll focus on architecting and building new systems as well as improving existing ones for a platform that supports millions of users globally. You'll have the autonomy to shape technical solutions, influence architectural decisions, and own services throughout their lifecycle.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><h2><strong>What You'll Do</strong></h2><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Design, build, and maintain backend infrastructure, APIs, and services at scale.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Own the architecture and implementation of distributed systems behind high-volume, low-latency APIs.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Solve hard scalability, latency, and performance problems in live production systems.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Lead system design discussions and shape the direction of our backend architecture.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Set the best practices for backend development—throughput, reliability, and latency.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Validate performance through automated testing, benchmarking, and production-driven improvements.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Trace production issues across services and the full stack, and ship fixes that durably improve reliability.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p></li></ul><h2><strong>What We're Looking For</strong></h2><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">5+ years of relevant industry experience.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">BS/BA degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining core backend components</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Ability to solve complex design, scalability, latency, or performance problems in high-throughput, low-latency production systems.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Production experience with Java, Rust</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience in cloud-native environments, particularly AWS.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience with managed Kubernetes platforms such as Amazon EKS is a plus.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Comfortable working across the stack, with a willingness to dive into infrastructure and platform challenges when the problem calls for it.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience building highly available and scalable distributed systems.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You're a self-starter who takes ownership, moves fast, and knows when to obsess over the details—and when it's time to ship.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Curiosity about emerging technologies and a desire to continuously learn and explore new ideas.</p></li></ul><ul s
