Backend Engineer - Card Issuing Team at StraitsX

<h3>About the Role</h3> <p>We are looking for a passionate Backend Engineer to join our Card Issuing Team, which is building APIs and infrastructure that enable businesses to launch and manage their own card programs across Southeast Asia.</p> <p>This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to build scalable backend services, support integrations with payment providers and third-party systems, and contribute to the development of a card issuing platform.</p> <p>The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, thrives in fast-paced environments, and is excited about building scalable fintech infrastructure from the ground up.</p> <h3>What You Will Do</h3> <ul> <li>Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs for the Card Issuing platform</li> <li>Build and maintain high-availability scalable systems supporting card issuance and payment processing</li> <li>Work with third-party APIs and payment integrations for local and global card transactions</li> <li>Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, performance bottlenecks, and scalability challenges</li> <li>Support regression testing, integration testing, and system reliability improvements</li> <li>Address bugs, technical debt, and operational support requests</li> <li>Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and technical discussions</li> <li>Implement security and engineering best practices across services and infrastructure</li> <li>Build internal operational tools and reporting systems for platform management</li> <li>Support incident response and on-call duties when required</li> <li>Collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, and Operations teams on feature delivery and platform improvements</li> </ul> <h3>What We Are Looking For</h3> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field</li> <li>3–5 years of backend engineering experience, with a proven track record of building and operating production systems</li> <li>Strong proficiency in Golang</li> <li>Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs</li> <li>Familiarity with microservices architecture</li> <li>Experience with SQL databases, preferably MariaDB or MySQL</li> <li>Familiarity with Git and GitHub workflows</li> <li>Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines</li> <li>Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills</li> <li>Willingness to learn and operate in a fast-paced environment</li> <li>Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Codex, Cursor, or similar</li> <li>Familiarity with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and observability tools</li> &lt
